The Community, Environment and Development (CED) major is a new interdisciplinary degree designed for students wanting to develop the critical skills needed to solve the tough problems associated with sustainability. CED (pronounced ‘seed’) emphasizes that development strategies need to consider the environmental impacts of human choices. CED also recognizes that environment and natural resources influence the well-being of people and their communities – from global to local. The new major provides students with the theoretical background as well as a set of important tools and techniques to understand and tackle these important issues in the US and internationally.

The overarching goal of CED is to form a critical mass of scholars, leaders, and doers able to solve the development-environment challenge.

CED is about having impact.

We invite you to be a part of it.
